Video of a woman stripping loops on a computer monitor displayed with a keyboard and mouse. Recorded in a domestic space with the performer eyeing the camera, Tethered Connection plays with the aesthetics of amateur porn and camgirls. However, instead of revealing bare skin, when the clothing is removed, the viewer sees flickering, semi-opaque pixels. As more layers are removed, the pixels glow brighter until the full torso is censored by a white glow.

ARTIST STATEMENT:
Continuing my exploration into representations of women’s sexualities within moving-image forms, Tethered Connections avoids hypersexualization and pathologization of the body, and instead presents an alternative vision of sexuality that can still reveal while remaining private.
