Static

2019
Video and audio, CRT TVs, red chair
Size dependent upon installation space

Caught in a loop of indistinguishable television programs, a woman is finally awoken from her trance only to discover there is no escape from this prison of TVs. A cavalcade of stimulation from historic broadcasts and the endless snowy static of the tube sets themselves precludes clarity, subsuming both viewers and viewed into an indistinct melange of inscrutable data. Static’s use of obsolete TV technology acknowledges our long history of content-crazed culture and the paralyzing consequences of an oversaturated media diet.
